Devops is easy, only when its implemented on whiteboards and on notebooks.

In reality, its takes years of experience just to know how to setup a simple looking pipeline in its optimised form. DevOps is more than just connecting tools and making things run automatically, it’s about really getting how your specific setup works, dealing with unexpected problems and always making your system work better.

Hi, my name is Syed Nadeem. I’m a DevOps Architect by profession with over 14 years of production experience. I have built infrastructures on-premises, in the cloud, on containers, and on VMs, and trust me, there is nothing that even comes close to the infrastructures hosted in a Kubernetes cluster. Once you get a hang of it, you will be hooked too. However it’s not an easy path, there is a huge learning curve needed.

Sadly, many online claims falsely promise that you can learn Kubernetes in 1-2 months or become a DevOps expert through a bootcamp. They will directly introduce individuals to a Kubernetes pod and begin explaining various Kubernetes features. As a result, the student may become either super confused or overly confident in denial, thinking that they have conquered new heights. However, reality hits them hard once they attempt to build something from scratch.

One golden statement I recall from my early days in DevOps was from my mentor, and it goes like this: ‘you can never solve a problem that you don’t understand ‘.

This is the exact problem with bootcamps and tool-driven sessions; they never delve deep into understanding the underlying problems. If K8s is good with orchestration, then let’s first implement a use case without K8s and understand why orchestration is even needed. If K8s is good with scaling and networking, then let’s first implement scaling and networking without K8s to understand the complexity.

DevOps With Syed is my way of explaining complex DevOps concepts via project implementation phases. This is the difficult way of learning and this will demand your attention, however once you implement the solution for a problem you will never forget it again in your life. Come and be part of this learning battle ground and I will see you on the other side.
